Going Somewhere ?
Whether for business, for pleasure or simply to find out about new locations and things to do, we hope that Travelfinders can help you plan your trip as well as put you in touch with what to expect and what to do when you get there.
First find a location from our World map, or if you're looking for ideas try our Travel magazine. If you already know what you want and want to book it, go to our Transport and Accommodation section for the best of the Web's booking sites.
In general we have tried to get you information from two sources - i.e. from your destination and from your local area.

We recommend that you always use a bonded Travel agent.

The following are some typical travel scenarios which may help you with your travel arrangements.

I know what I'm doing - I've done it before
If you are a business or commuter (not computer) traveller or regular flyer, or you want the same flight again, go straight to our transport and accommodation section to book your seat with one of the net's reservations systems. The top 3 are Expedia fare tracker which allows you pick your own seat, ITN "the greatest reservation system on earth" and Sebuss, which is what a lot of the travel agents use.
If you don't know what you're doing don't worry you can still book a flight or holiday over the net or better still, get an idea of what it's going to cost you - inclusive of flight, accommodation, car hire, etc.

I need accommodation
There's a lot of it around. Start from our Accommodations section, and also check your destination from our World map for recommended deals. It sounds obvious, but always make sure that your hotel is near to where you want to be. Once you have your information, you could try giving your local travel agent a call. They may be able to offer you an all-inclusive package that could save you money and organisational hassles.

I just wanna get out of here...
We all need a holiday sometime, Travelfinders will be able to put you in touch with all varieties of accommodations, transport, local information and travel deals. If you're looking for ideas try our Travel Magazine or simply browse from our front page World map. Even if you can't afford it yet, it never hurts to find out more about the holiday of your dreams. Once you have a plan, you never know when the cash might make itself available.

I want a guide book
Although the Internet is a superb media for finding out about world or local destinations, many sites are Government-sponsored so you may not always get the bad news. Always consider personal safety, health regulations, visas and so on. Take a look at our general information section for travel guides, weather, maps, travel warnings and everything you need before you go.
Your local bookstore will carry the main guides - these days there's hardly a corner of the globe that hasn't been charted and a good guide book or two written about it. If you're travelling longhaul (or Exotic as some people like to call it) bring along a Lonely Planet guide. It's straight up hard nose stuff and if you don't know exactly where you'll be going, a good guide book will save you money, hassle and maybe a lot more.

What'll be going on when I get there?
No matter where you're going, the Internet will help you find out what's going on. Go to our general information for local weather, travel warnings, go to the continent you are travelling to for local news information, and go to your destination country for local events, festivals, activities etc. If these information sources don't answer your questions, you might try emailing the relevant local tourist office.

No-Go areas and places not covered by Travelfinders
Some of the most interesting places on Earth are those which are difficult to get to, have not much information on them and are rarely visited. It's a great feeling to reach one of these places. We hope to be able to cover these isolated spots a little better in the future. In the meantime, if you're looking for information on some country or destination which we don't cover, try our internet search facility. If nothing comes back it may be because there's very little available on that place, they don't promote themselves or you simply can't go there, simple as that.
The CIA information sheets may give you some reasons. Remember to get information on your visa first as some can take a long time.

Culture shock
Make sure you and your travelling partner(s) know what you are getting into and make the necessary arrangements. Find out what you can from our news links and local destination links from our front pages. Also look into the local cuisine - there's always something to eat, but will you eat it? If you know before you go at least it won't be such a surprise.
